The DJI Mini5 Pro and the Osbourne Effect
Currently, there are many people eagerly awaiting the release of the DJI Mini5 Pro and you can tell as much by all the YouTube click bait about “possible release dates” and potential advancements made from the Mini5. With the release of the DJI Mini4 Pro on September 25th of 2023 only slightly a year after the Mini3 Pro the anticipation of what the Mini5 may hold has left many consumers “on hold” with their next purchasing decision.
Which brings us to the Osborne effect that many people who have wanted to purchase a DJI Mini are likely experiencing. After all, if we followed the current timeline of drone model release dates we’re all at best just months away from the announcement of the DJI Mini5 Pro and who would want to spend “that kind” of money on a DJI Mini4 Pro just to have the second place drone in a matter of weeks.
At the very least you would think that if DJI wasn’t making a Mini5 Pro or had drastically different plans for the next generation of the Mini drone series that they would say that much at a minimum to keep their Mini4 Pro sales at their highest. The fact of the matter is that they haven’t denied the coming of the Mini5 nor have they announced it either. Their silence speaks louder than their words though and with a track record of releasing a new model every 18 months going all the way back to the Mini 2 it makes sense for people to hesitate.
You can see the Osbourne Effect between the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the soon to be released Mini 5 Pro on this DJI Forum live in action as these drone users discuss their impatience in waiting for the Mini 5 Pro and holding off on the Mini 4 pro – https://mavicpilots.com/threads/mini-5-pro-getting-tired-of-waiting.148291/
